4 In April 2003, Kyushu University established the Department of Health Sciences, School ofMedicine in order to foster human resources that are highly skilled in the field of health sciencesand rich in human compassion, capable of meeting the medical care demands of modernsociety and who also have the potential to become educators and researchers. In addition, aMaster’s program and a PhD program were established in the Department of Health Sciences,Graduate School of Medical Sciences in 2007 and 2009, respectively.An international Master’s and international doctoral courses were established in theDepartment of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medical Sciences in October 2011 andOctober 2013, respectively.Philosophy of the Department of Health Sciences, Graduate SchoolThe basic philosophy is to establish academic frameworks in the field of health sciencesthrough comprehensive and universal educational research in order to address diverse health,medical and welfare issues, and also create new knowledge resources who can make significantcontributions to local and international communities.About the Master’s program in the Department of Health Sciences, Graduate Schoolof Medical Sciences, Kyushu UniversityThe Master’s program fosters educators and researchers having superior research and developmentcapabilities rich in creativity in health sciences as well as practical and organizationalleaders who are highly driven in the field of health sciences.
