In April 2003, Kyushu University established the Department of Health Sciences, School of Medicine in order to foster human resources that are highly skilled in the field of health sciences and rich in human compassion, capable of meeting the medical care demands of modern society and who also have the potential to become educators and researchers. In addition, a Master’s program and a Ph.D. program were established in the Department of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medical Sciences in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
An international Master’s and international doctoral courses were established in the Department of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medical Sciences in October 2011 and October 2013, respectively.

The basic philosophy is to establish academic frameworks in the field of health sciences through comprehensive and universal educational research in order to address diverse health, medical and welfare issues, and also create new knowledge resources who can make significant contributions to local and international communities.

About the Ph.D. program in the Department of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University
The Ph.D. program that was established in the Department of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medical Sciences in April 2009 fosters educators and researchers with capabilities to conduct independent research activities based on a well-developed background knowledge in the field of health sciences, and human resources combining practical capabilities with high educational and research capabilities in the nursing and medical technology fields. As education has already been provided in the doctoral courses of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy on the same campus, their knowledge and contributions are returned to local and international communities by promoting organic cooperation in multiple medical arenas and forming an educational and research base in the field of health sciences.
